Medical Research and Publications

District Medical Group (DMG) is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of individuals in Arizona through an integrated medical group practice based on a balanced program of patient care, education, research, and community service. The research conducted by our providers and supported by the Valleywise Health Grants and Research departments is central to our mission. The education provided to residents and medical students helps lay the foundation for a future of innovative care.

Healthcare disparities based on factors such as geography, gender, and race/ethnicity increasingly require our medical practices to adapt to optimally serve diverse patient populations. Validating process and practice adaptations and modifications through research, we teach and better prepare residents and empower our patients. We understand that both providers and patients must have the information and tools needed to navigate the ever-changing healthcare landscape.

As defined by the Agency for Health Research and Quality, health services research is “a multidisciplinary field of scientific investigation that studies how social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, health technologies, and personal behaviors affect access to healthcare, the quality and cost of healthcare, and ultimately,  our health and wellbeing.” This commitment to a multidisciplinary approach is central to the research conducted by DMG.

DMG and Valleywise Health support and encourage research with initiatives, projects, and clinical trials designed to advance knowledge and create new treatment modalities. We are involved in dozens of research projects and mentor residents and medical students on their own research projects. Many of these trials and projects become presentations throughout the country and articles published in national journals.

DMG and Valleywise Health have a long tradition of collaboration between our organizations and with other parties to advance healthcare. Through our grants and research partnerships, we help make the community a better place.
