He completed two post-graduate degrees in Ontario, Canada- a Master of Health Science in epidemiology at the University of Toronto and his Doctor of Medicine at McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. With more than a decade of medical experience, Dr. Xu is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association and American Society of Retina Specialists.

Active in research, his clinical manuscripts have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases. Dr. Xu’s research interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, infectious endophthalmitis and surgical techniques.
