Educational Background
Personal History and Interests
Fluent in Spanish and with nearly three decades of experience, Frank LoVecchio, DO, MPH, FACEP, ABMT is a recognized clinical leader in emergency medicine and medical toxicology across the United States. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, lectured in more than 20 countries and contributed extensively to emergency medicine research, medical missions and clinical education.
Dr. LoVecchio is the Vice Chair of Research for Valleywise Health (formerly Maricopa Integrated Health System) and the Medical Director of Clinical Research at Arizona State University College of Health Solutions. He also works as the Principal Investigator for EMERGEncy ID NET studies, a national group of health system emergency departments funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct infectious disease trials, including MRSA, C-difficile and cellulitis. In addition, Dr. LoVecchio is a site director for multiple National Institute of Health grants.
Active in educating the next generation of physicians, he is an emergency medicine and pharmacology professor at Creighton University School of Medicine and University of Arizona (UA) College of Medicine, both in Phoenix; he has also been on faculty at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale.
A research scholar, Dr. LoVecchio was a founding member of the Center for Toxicology and Pharmacology Education and Research at UA College of Medicine. Prior to joining DMG, he was co-medical director for Arizona’s Poison and Control Center, managed by Banner Health.
He has received more than a dozen awards for clinical research and education. Most recently, Phoenix Business Journal recognized Dr. LoVecchio with their Health Care Heroes 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition to his medical degree, he holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard University in Boston, MA. Dr. LoVecchio completed his undergraduate studies at State University of New York, Stony Brook.
