Whether for preventive care, management of a chronic condition, or treatment of an illness, you need a medical provider you can trust that is also convenient. District Medical Group (DMG) Papago Family Practice supports patients of all ages – from infants through senior adults – providing individualized care to fit your lifestyle.

Annual Exams and Physicals

With no appointment necessary, we make it as convenient as possible to cross mandatory physicals off your to-do list. We offer camp physicals, employment physicals, school physicals, sports physicals, well-child exams, well-woman exams, and more.

Immunizations

Visit DMG Papago Family Practice to get your vaccinations administered with a gentle hand. We offer immunizations for adults and children including hepatitis B, influenza (flu shots), measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), meningitis, tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (TDAP), varicella (chickenpox), and more.

Minor Injuries

From minor sprains and burns and other non-life-threatening injuries, DMG Papago Family Practice offers walk-in care and a convenient, cost-effective alternative to the emergency room. We treat wounds, burns, bites, cuts, sprains, wound infections, and more.

Chronic Condition Management

Our compassionate team at DMG Papago Family Practice is dedicated to helping you live your best life and improve your health by working with you to create a complete chronic disease management plan. We treat conditions such as COPD/asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney/liver diseases, and more. Note that patients with uncontrolled chronic conditions may be referred to the appropriate specialist.

Colds, Flu and Other Minor Illnesses

When you’re feeling under the weather, our providers can help you feel better as quickly as possible. With walk-in care and same day appointments available, you can skip the urgent care and come straight to a family practice provider at DMG. DMG Papago Family Practice can diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for illnesses such as abdominal pain, allergic reactions, bladder infections, diarrhea/constipation, ear infections, fever, joint pain, migraines, nausea/vomiting, respiratory infections, seasonal allergies, skin infections, and more.

Why choose us instead of an urgent care?

Access to medical records

What many patients do not realize is that medical records resulting from appointments at other medical providers are not automatically shared with the patient’s primary care provider (PCP). In a 2017 Harris Poll, 65% of respondents said they assumed their PCPs would receive updates on their urgent care visits. In fact, the patient must request in writing with a signature that the urgent care, retail pharmacy clinic or other medical provider send the patient’s medical notes from the appointment to the patient’s PCP. The only possible exception is if the urgent care is owned by the same health system as the primary care clinic and a single electronic health records (EHR) system is used at all locations.

Ease of scheduling follow-ups

“Follow up with your PCP” is a standard among discharge instructions for patients seeking urgent or walk-in health services. Seeking walk-in healthcare at your PCP’s office enables you to schedule any needed follow-up appointments at the time initial help is received; no need to make additional phone calls or go online to schedule an appointment once you get home.

Less potential exposure to illnesses

Because most patients at the PCP’s office have scheduled appointments many of which are for preventive healthcare (wellness exams, allergy management, etc.), you are likely less exposed to patients with contagious illnesses. While all healthcare facilities- including urgent cares and retail clinics- are likely following strict protocols during COVID-19 to maintain social distancing and sanitary measures, outside of a pandemic, many people seeking urgent care are ill or injured and sitting near each other in the waiting area or lobby.

We’re here to support your walk-in care needs and build a long-term partnership with you to support your health today and in the future.

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or have someone take you immediately to a local hospital’s emergency department (ED).
