Personal History and Interests
Courtney Wechsler, MD chose emergency medicine as her specialty because she wanted to work in a very procedural specialty, “often with high acuity and the need to think and act quickly in critical scenarios.” Dr. Wechsler added, “You’re often working with very vulnerable populations on some of the most intense days of their lives, and you can frequently see immediate results of your interventions.”
She is particularly passionate about improving obstetrics and gynecology care within the emergency department, especially miscarriage management, as well as utilizing her emergency medicine training to improve pain management during procedural interventions.
During her medical residency in Detroit, MI, Dr. Wechsler was selected for one of two resident editor positions to serve on the editorial board of Academic Emergency Medicine. Her responsibilities during the one-year term included all aspects involved in the dissemination of scholarly content that impact the practice of emergency medicine, including peer review, editing and other journal duties that promote meaningful scientific discovery.
Outside of medical practice, Dr. Wechsler enjoys dogs, video games, escape rooms, puzzles and chocolate.
